Although most of this website is for children, I thought I would make a page especially for you. I'd like to introduce myself to you and to set out my goals as a writer and storyteller.
Before I became a writer, I was a primary school teacher, teaching everything from history to science, geography to art, and maths to writing. After almost twenty years of teaching, I knew that I still wanted to have a positive influence on children and, with my passion for writing, I decided that I would like to reach young minds through my stories.
Nowadays a teacher wears many hats, and one of the many things I was responsible for in the classroom was teaching the young people in my care about the values of integrity, loyalty, bravery, intelligence, perseverance, and of course about having a sense of humour and to have fun and enjoy life to the fullest. The three main characters in my stories embody these important values and will set a good example to all who read these great new books.
In today’s world, which often celebrates and reports stories of violence and suffering, I felt it was my duty to create stories in which my characters resolve problems and solve mysteries using their intellect and perseverance, and with a sense of compassion for others. In my stories, the children work collaboratively and supportively with each other. They use teamwork and cooperation and work diligently to achieve a common goal.
In the future I hope to provide a selection of Guided Reading activities to accompany each of the Countdown Mystery books. The aim of these activities being to provide you with fun Literacy based ideas that you can use with your children if you choose.
I hope you and your children will enjoy reading my books, just as much as I enjoy writing them.
Thank you for your support, and for allowing me to share my stories with your children.
